Rotor — Hoodies
A Scrap of the Flyer Hoodie
On April 19, 2021, the Ingenuity helicopter made the first powered, controlled flight on another planet.
What you're wearing
Under its solar panel it carried a small swatch of wing fabric from the Wright brothers' 1903 Flyer (NASA/JPL). Drawn in the manner of felt appliqué: the helicopter, the crater and the letters cut from felt and cotton and blanket-stitched down, with the helicopter's shadow cut out of the ground. The black felt is the hoodie. It is a print, not fabric. Front print. French terry, unisex fit.
