Engineer Eiji Nakatsu, a birdwatcher, gave Japan's 500 Series bullet train a long nose shaped like its beak, and the boom it made leaving tunnels got much quieter. Drawn in the manner of cloisonne enamel: colored glass fired inside cells of copper wire, then polished flat. Full-bleed XL desk mat, 16 x 32 in.
